Mission director Judes Montis, along with American missionaries Davy and Natalie Lloyd, were mourned in a packed church in Haiti following their tragic deaths at the hands of gang members. The service was emotional, with Montis’ wife shedding tears as the crowd paid their respects. Montis, a devoted father and brother, was remembered for the path he created for others.
The killings took place in a gang-controlled area where Montis worked, leaving the community devastated. Montis’ brother, who witnessed the shootings, narrowly escaped harm after receiving a lifesaving phone call. He is now looking to leave Haiti due to the trauma.
While the group was laid to rest in Haiti, efforts are being made to transport the Lloyds’ bodies back to the U.S. for burial. Missouri state Rep. Ben Baker, father of Natalie Lloyd, spoke with former President Donald Trump, who offered his condolences for the senseless tragedy.
The violence in Haiti, where gangs control a significant portion of the capital, highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the country. The Haitian National Police have condemned the killings and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, the lack of resources and staffing within the police force make it difficult to combat gang violence effectively.
The mourning and outrage following these tragic deaths serve as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by those working in unstable regions and the urgent need for improved security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
