The Oregon Department of Education is once again offering its Summer Food Service program to provide free meals to children between the ages of one and eighteen. With over 450 sites across the state, families can access nutritious meals at no cost. Meghan Tschida, the manager of ODE’s Community Nutrition Program, stated that there is no paperwork required for families to receive meals, and the only criteria is the child’s age. Families can find nearby meal sites by using the “Summer Site Finder” online tool, texting “food” or “comida” to 304-304, or calling 211 for assistance. This program aims to help combat hunger and ensure that children have access to healthy meals during the summer months.
