Oregon’s Fourth of July fireworks were felt coast to coast with the commitment of the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2025 cycle, Dakorien Moore. A five-star prospect from Duncanville, Texas, Moore is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the class of 2025. Previously committed to LSU, Moore chose Oregon over heavy interest from Ohio State, Texas, and continued interest from LSU. The decision was a surprise to many insiders who expected him to choose in-state Texas due to the upcoming reign of Arch Manning and coach Steve Sarkisian. Moore cited the legendary program being built by coach Dan Lanning and the culture at Oregon as reasons for his decision.
With 130 receptions for 2,653 yards and 29 touchdowns in his high school career, Moore’s commitment has propelled Oregon to No. 5 in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. He joins another five-star wide receiver and three total five-stars in Oregon’s recruiting class. Experts suggest that with the right additions, Oregon could compete for the top class in 2025. Moore is projected as a top pick in the NFL Draft, drawing comparisons to Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints.
While Texas had been positioned to win Moore’s commitment, they were unable to secure it, leading to recruiting frustrations for the Longhorns. Oregon’s success in recruiting may be attributed in part to their NIL alignment, giving them an edge in attracting top prospects. With Moore’s commitment, Oregon looks poised to make a run for back-to-back top 5-ranked recruiting classes for the first time in program history.
