Oregon-based Shaniko Wool Company, founded by ranch leader Jeanne Carver, is proud to provide wool for Ralph Lauren’s outfits for the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Paris. Carver’s experience working with Ralph Lauren for the last three Winter Olympics and Paralympics has been life-changing, leading her to launch the sustainable wool company in 2018.
As a former college athlete who competed in volleyball and track, Carver is thrilled to expand her Olympic connection to include summer games outfits. She has dedicated decades to marketing sustainably produced wool and has collaborated with researchers at Oregon State University to measure the environmental impact of her ranch. Imperial Stock Ranch, part of the Shaniko Wool Company, was the first entity to achieve certification under the Responsible Wool Standard.
Carver’s efforts have garnered attention from brands worldwide, with Patagonia and others ordering Oregon-produced wool. The focus on sustainability in wool production is a common-sense approach to land management, ensuring healthy natural resources for future generations.
Team USA athletes competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics will be dressed in Ralph Lauren outfits partially woven with wool from Shaniko Wool Company. Carver is excited to see her efforts embodied in the outfits, especially knowing that Oregon State University gymnast Jade Carey will be wearing wool from her farm. She is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Olympic outfits and watch her sustainable wool showcased on a global stage.
