Natrona County Firefighters Deployed to Combat 77,000-Acre Oregon Wildfire


Two firefighters from the Natrona County Fire District in Wyoming are being sent to the Lone Rock Fire in Oregon. Fire Captain Darek Pepple and Fire Engineer Darin Pepple will be division supervisors for over 600 personnel working on the fire. The fire, which started on July 13, has spread to over 77,020 acres with 10% containment. Evacuations have been ordered in multiple counties due to the fire’s rapid spread in hot, dry weather. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.

The Lone Rock Fire is being managed under a full suppression strategy by two major Oregon firefighting teams. The Pepple brothers will be providing support and leadership in managing the fire.
