Sean Kingston, rapper, and his mother indicted on federal charges for participating in $1M fraud scheme

Rapper and singer Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been indicted on federal charges of committing more than $1 million worth of fraud in South Florida. They are accused of participating in a scheme to defraud victims of high-end specialty vehicles, jewelry, and other goods using fraudulent documents. Kingston was previously booked on similar state charges last month and arrested at an Army training base in California. Turner was arrested the same day when a SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale.

The federal indictment claims that Kingston and Turner falsely claimed to have made payment transfers for high-end items when they had not, keeping over $1 million worth of fraudulently purchased items without paying. State charges also indicate that they stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry, money from banks, and a car dealership. Kingston, known for hits like “Beautiful Girls” and “Eenie Meenie,” was already on probation for trafficking stolen property.

Their attorney did not respond to requests for comment, but previously stated that they were confident of a successful resolution. Turner has a history of bank fraud, serving time in prison for stealing over $160,000 in the past. The case against Kingston and Turner is ongoing in federal court in Miami.
