Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to those doubting Israel’s determination to defend itself following Israeli airstrikes that killed three people in the Houthi-controlled Yemeni port of Hodeida. The strikes were in direct response to a drone attack in Tel Aviv by Iran-backed rebels that killed an Israeli civilian.
Netanyahu stated that the port in Hodeida was not innocent and was used as an entry point for weapons supplied by Iran to the Houthi terrorists. The Prime Minister emphasized that offensive action was needed to combat the aggression of the Houthis, who have launched numerous attacks against Israel and its allies.
The Israeli strikes at Hodeida port targeted fuel storage facilities and a power plant, sparking condemnation from top Houthi official Mohammed Abdulsalam, who accused Israel of trying to pressure Yemen to stop supporting Palestinians in Gaza. The attack has raised concerns, especially as Hodeida is a critical entry point for imports and aid for rebel-held areas in Yemen.
Hezbollah, the Houthis’ Lebanese ally, warned that the Israeli strikes on Hodeida marked a dangerous turn in the conflict, which has been ongoing for nine months in Gaza. The international community, including the United States, Britain, and France, have expressed support for Israel’s actions in response to the escalating situation.
