Fred Goldman, the father of Ron Goldman, has filed a creditor’s claim against O.J. Simpson’s estate seeking $117 million in connection to a wrongful death suit from 1997. A civil jury found Simpson responsible for the homicides of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, ordering him to pay millions in damages. Despite being acquitted in criminal court, Simpson owes $117,041,675.27 to Fred Goldman, which has accrued interest over the years. The amount has been renewed three times in California courts, with interest continuing to accumulate until paid.
Fred and Sharon Goldman, who were divorced in 1993, have struggled to collect their share of the damages awarded to them in the past. Fred has expressed that the pursuit of justice, rather than money, has been their main motivation throughout the legal process. The deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1994 sparked what became known as the “trial of the century,” with Simpson eventually being acquitted.
Simpson passed away in April of this year, further reminding Fred of the loss of his son. Despite feeling that Simpson’s death was not a significant loss to the world, Fred continues to grieve for Ron and seek justice through pursuing the outstanding claim against Simpson’s estate.
