Justine Ghekiere of AG Insurance–Soudal–Quick-Step made a solo attack with 22km to go, quickly building a 17-second gap. The race splintered into five groups with 86 riders up front, including Vollering. The front group battled up the Côte de la Redoute, making for a punishing stage. Martin of Movistar attacked and built a lead of over a minute. The average speed increased to 37.8km/h. As the rain lashed down, Martin’s gap reached 1 minute and 20 seconds, with the peloton seemingly content to let her have her day in the rain. The top five on the general classification after stage three were Vollering, Wiebes, Dygert, Adegeest, and Kool, separated by just 10 seconds. Key events included the intense race pace, the challenging climbs such as the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons, and the wet conditions causing crashes. With the race coming back together around 95km to go, the stage set the stage for an exciting finish. Stay tuned for more updates as the race continues.
