The Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group in Sudan, recently carried out a brutal attack on the village of Galgani in the central province of Sennar. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 85 people, including women and children, with more than 150 others wounded. The RSF fighters looted, burned, and indiscriminately opened fire on unarmed residents after an initial attempt to abduct and assault women and girls.

Efforts to resume peace talks between the military and the RSF have been led by the United States, with delegations from various countries and organizations attending. The talks aim to settle the conflict that has killed thousands and displaced over 10.7 million people, with more than 2 million fleeing to neighboring countries. The conflict has resulted in famine, mass displacement, and widespread human rights violations, including mass rape and ethnically motivated killings.
The international community is working to bring an end to the conflict in Sudan, but the situation remains dire, with ongoing violence and humanitarian crises affecting millions of people.
