A dramatic video shared on Instagram shows a North Carolina home collapsing into the Atlantic Ocean in Rodanthe on Hatteras Island. The home was knocked off its wooden foundation by powerful waves, resulting in a loud crash as it fell into the ocean. Luckily, the house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported. Authorities are warning visitors to stay away from the beaches around Rodanthe due to dangerous debris and potential hazards caused by the collapse of several nearby homes in recent years. The National Park Service is working with the home’s owner to remove debris once the sea conditions calm down. Coastal flooding advisories are in effect for the Outer Banks, including Hatteras and Ocracoke islands, due to Tropical Storm Ernesto bringing in dangerous beach conditions such as large waves and rip currents. The collapse of the home on Corbina Drive is the seventh such incident along National Seashore beaches in North Carolina in the past four years. The public entry to the impacted area has been closed to ensure the safety of visitors.
