Four people, including a police officer, were injured in a car crash in Sydney when the driver allegedly stabbed his passenger. The incident occurred at the intersection of the Princes Highway and Old Bush Road in Engadine at around 9am on Sunday. The driver fled the scene but was apprehended by the police with the use of a Taser. The police officer sustained a serious laceration to his wrist during the arrest, while the passenger suffered multiple wounds. Another individual at the scene was also injured, although their involvement in the incident remains unclear.
Witnesses, including Cronulla Sharks chairman Steve Mace, rushed to help the victims after hearing screams from the crashed cars. Mace described seeing the alleged attacker slashing the woman in the car and attempted to stop the stabbing. The attacker reportedly shouted that they were all going to die and was angry that the woman had changed the radio station.
The NSW police minister assured the public that there was no ongoing threat to the community, as the suspect had been arrested. The Princes Highway was closed in both directions following the incident, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the motive behind the attack. The injured individuals were treated by paramedics at the scene. The shocking events have brought attention to the dangers that can arise from seemingly routine traffic incidents.
