Multiple Pilgrims Dead in Two Separate Bus Accidents in Pakistan | Transportation Incidents

At least 34 people were killed in two separate bus accidents in Pakistan, with 12 deaths on the Makran Coastal Highway in Balochistan and 22 deaths in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The accidents occurred when a bus carrying Shia pilgrims returning from Iran veered off the road and when a bus in Punjab province had brake failure and fell into a ravine. The Interior Ministry stated that 29 people died in the second accident. Pakistani leaders expressed sorrow over the incidents, with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offering condolences. This adds to the thousands of deaths that occur each year in the country due to road accidents caused by poor infrastructure, poorly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving. In a recent incident in Iran, a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims heading to Iraq for the Arbaeen commemoration flipped over, resulting in the deaths of 28 passengers. The bodies of the victims were brought back and buried in Sindh province. The accidents highlight the urgent need for improved road safety measures in Pakistan to prevent further tragedies.
