A search is underway in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, Ukraine, to recover a missing person from under the rubble of a hotel that was attacked by Russian troops. Two journalists, one Ukrainian and one American, were wounded in the attack, while a British journalist is still missing. The journalists, part of a war coverage team, were staying at the Sapphire hotel when it was hit by an apparent missile strike on Saturday.
Rescuers are currently clearing the rubble to locate the missing journalist. The injured journalists suffered blast trauma, concussion, a broken leg, and cut wounds. The attack also damaged a nearby high-rise building. Other regions in eastern Ukraine, including Kharkiv, were also targeted by Russian forces, resulting in multiple civilian injuries.
Residents in Kramatorsk described the terrifying experience of the attack, with one resident thankful for escaping without damage. Another resident mentioned the fear and damage caused by the explosion, including blown-out windows. In Kharkiv, reports indicate injuries to civilians, including children, as a result of Russian strikes destroying houses and setting buildings on fire.
The situation in eastern Ukraine continues to worsen as Russian forces escalate attacks on civilian areas. The international community remains concerned about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region. Authorities are working to assist those affected by the attacks and recover missing persons from the rubble of targeted buildings.
