British journalist killed in Ukraine hotel by Russian missile

A British safety adviser, Ryan Evans, was killed when a Russian missile struck the Hotel Sapphire in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, where he was staying with colleagues. Two other members of the six-person Reuters crew were injured in the attack. Evans had previously advised journalists on safety in Ukraine, Israel, and at the Paris Olympics. The hotel was left in ruins after the missile strike, with a nearby multistory building also destroyed. In addition to the attack in Kramatorsk, the eastern Kharkiv region of Ukraine also came under Russian fire, resulting in multiple civilian injuries. In Kharkiv’s Chuhuiv region, a 4-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were among those injured in a Russian strike on two houses. In Kharkiv city, eight people were wounded in a Russian attack that set a two-story house on fire. In response, five people in the Russian border region of Belgorod died in Ukrainian shelling, with twelve others wounded in the village of Rakitone, including a 16-year-old girl in critical condition. Another man also died in a separate drone attack on the border village of Solovevka. The violence and casualties on both sides highlight the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
