Catherine, the Princess of Wales, was seen at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on Aug. 25 in a rare public appearance since being diagnosed with cancer earlier that year. She attended a church service at Crathie Kirk with her husband, Prince William, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla. The royal family traditionally spends their summers in Scotland, with Crathie Kirk being their usual place of worship. This was the first time Catherine and Charles were seen together since Trooping the Colour in June, where she made her first public appearance since announcing her chemotherapy treatments. The cancer diagnosis came after she had abdominal surgery in January, which was initially thought to be noncancerous but was later found to have cancer. The specific type of cancer was not disclosed, but she mentioned being in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy. Catherine released a statement in June clarifying that she was not yet returning to royal duties and had a few more months of chemotherapy left. Despite this, she attended the Wimbledon men’s singles final in July, receiving a standing ovation. Additionally, she appeared in a video congratulating Team Great Britain on their performance in the 2024 Olympics. There is no official word on when she will return to royal duties, but her husband will be appearing at a gallery soon, and their children are preparing to go back to school next month.
