Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, was hit with a barrage of missiles on Monday, leading residents to seek shelter in bomb shelters. This attack followed Ukraine’s biggest assault on multiple Russian regions over the weekend. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Kyiv was targeted by drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, causing injuries and damage to homes and infrastructure. In response to the attack, the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, promised that the enemy would feel the consequences.
In Kharkiv, Russia’s second-largest city, at least 47 people were injured when Russian missiles struck a shopping mall and events complex. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have made advances in Russia’s Kursk region, leading to ongoing assaults in the area. Russian forces have also made gains in other regions near Kharkiv and Donetsk.
Kyiv retaliated by destroying a childcare facility in the Russian city of Belgorod near the border with Ukraine. As a result, kindergartens in the region will be closed for a week, and some schools will hold online classes. The ongoing conflict has resulted in escalating violence and instability in the region. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop further as both sides continue to engage in military actions.
