He has also called for more progressive measures, such as higher tax rates on the wealthy and a stronger minimum tax on total income for billionaires. Harris has proposed a 28% tax rate on long-term capital gains for households making over $1 million, a measure that Sanders believes should be higher. She has also supported a billionaire minimum tax and other progressive policies aimed at increasing tax fairness and supporting working-class Americans.
Despite their policy differences, Sanders still views Harris as a progressive, noting that her platform includes important issues like making the child tax credit permanent, expanding affordable housing options, and supporting unions. He believes that while they may not agree on everything, Harris’ focus on these issues is significant in making her campaign truly progressive.
