CEO of Waffle House Walt Ehmer passes away at the age of 58


Walt Ehmer, the president and CEO of Waffle House and a member of the board of trustees for the Atlanta Police Foundation, has passed away at the age of 58. Ehmer joined Waffle House in 1992 and quickly rose to senior leadership, becoming president in 2002 and later adding the titles of CEO and chairman. He was highly involved in his alma mater, Georgia Tech University, serving on various boards and organizations. Mayor Andre Dickens praised Ehmer’s leadership, dedication, and warmth in a news release, stating that he leaves behind a remarkable legacy. The board of directors for Waffle House announced that Ehmer had passed away after a long illness and that he will be greatly missed by his Waffle House family.

Ehmer was known for his involvement in various organizations and his contributions to the community. The Waffle House chain, which he led, has over 1,900 locations in 25 states. Ehmer is survived by three children and has left a lasting impact on those he worked with and those he served through his various leadership roles.
