Latino journalist Jorge Ramos to depart Univision, ending impactful career


Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, a prominent figure in Spanish-language journalism, is leaving the network after nearly 40 years as the anchor of Noticiero Univision. The network announced that Ramos and the company have mutually agreed not to renew their contract, and Ramos will continue anchoring until December. Ramos has been a co-anchor on Noticiero Univision since 1986, alongside other notable Hispanic journalists. He also hosts the weekend programs “Al Punto” and “America with Jorge Ramos.” Throughout his career, Ramos has been a leading voice in Hispanic journalism, challenging politicians in the U.S. and Latin America and moderating multiple presidential debates. He has won 10 Emmy Awards and is known for his criticism of former President Donald Trump, leading to his removal from a news conference in 2015.
