Harvey Weinstein transferred from Rikers Island to hospital for urgent heart surgery.

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, underwent heart surgery on Monday after complaining of health issues. He was moved from a New York City jail to Bellevue Hospital for the procedure, and remained in recovery in the intensive care unit. Weinstein, whose 2020 rape conviction was overturned in April, is also dealing with other serious health issues. This was not the first time he was hospitalized this year, as he previously tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia.

Weinstein’s representative stated that he had undergone pericardiocentesis surgery to address fluid in his lungs and heart. The 72-year-old has been dealing with various health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid on his heart and lungs.

Weinstein has been convicted of sex offenses in both New York and Los Angeles, with the latter case resulting in a 16-year prison sentence. However, his New York conviction was overturned due to legal errors. A grand jury is currently considering new charges against him. Weinstein has consistently maintained that any sexual encounters were consensual, despite more than 80 women accusing him of sexual assault or harassment.

Overall, Weinstein’s health issues have been ongoing, and his recent heart surgery is just the latest in a series of medical problems he has faced.
