Last season, Tagovailoa missed games due to concussions, which led to a controversy and a new concussion protocol in the NFL. Tagovailoa considered retirement after his concussions in 2022 but consulted a doctor and decided to continue playing. He is in his fifth season with the Dolphins and led the NFL in passing yards last season. The Dolphins signed Tagovailoa to a lucrative contract in July. Backup quarterback Skylar Thompson expressed concern for Tagovailoa and emphasized the importance of caring for the person over the player in situations like this. The Dolphins are waiting for further evaluation before determining a timeline for Tagovailoa’s return and will take it day by day.
