Yemeni missile hits central Israel, setting off sirens

The Israel Defense Forces reported that a ballistic missile launched from Yemen crossed into Israel and landed in an open field outside Tel Aviv, causing nine injuries as people ran to shelters in response to air raid sirens. The incident marked the first such alert in the region in months, including at the Ben Gurion international airport in Tel Aviv, which has since returned to normal operations. Video footage showed a fire in a rural area near Tel Aviv, with emergency responders extinguishing it. While there were no deaths or serious damage reported, the injured individuals were being treated at nearby hospitals. The Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack, warning of more strikes against Israel as retaliation for previous conflicts and to support Palestinians in Gaza. This incident is the latest in a series of retaliatory strikes between Israel and the Houthis, with previous incidents involving drone attacks, airstrikes, and ongoing tensions in the region. Israel has not yet announced if they will retaliate following this latest missile launch.
