Oregon police catch hit and run driver thanks to stroke of luck after injuring female pedestrian

Oregon police have apprehended a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after striking and injuring a female pedestrian thanks to a stroke of luck that helped them track down the suspect. The incident occurred in the city of Eugene, where the driver of a silver SUV struck the woman before fleeing the scene, leaving her with non-life-threatening injuries.

Despite the driver’s attempt to escape, luck was on the side of law enforcement as they were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle after a piece of evidence, a side mirror from the SUV, fell off at the scene of the accident. Police were able to connect the mirror to a specific make and model of vehicle, which helped them in their search for the driver.

Following an investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect as 35-year-old Robert Dray Jr., who was subsequently arrested and charged with the hit-and-run incident. Dray now faces charges for felony hit and run, reckless driving, and assault in the third degree.

The victim, a 24-year-old female pedestrian, was taken to the hospital after the crash, where she received treatment for her injuries. Luckily, her injuries were not life-threatening, and she is expected to make a full recovery.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying at the scene of an accident and taking responsibility for one’s actions. Thanks to the swift actions of law enforcement and a stroke of luck, the hit-and-run driver has been apprehended and will face the consequences of his actions. The victim in this case is fortunate to have survived with non-life-threatening injuries, and hopefully, this incident will serve as a lesson to others about the importance of accountability on the road.
