Springfield, Ohio hit with over 30 bomb threats following false pets claims

Since false claims about Haitian migrants eating people’s pets surfaced in Springfield, Ohio, there have been at least 33 bomb threats in the city, all of which have been determined to be hoaxes. The threats targeted schools, city facilities, and were made in response to the claims pushed by former President Trump and Sen. JD Vance. Despite the false nature of the claims, schools were evacuated and security measures have been increased in the city. Governor DeWine emphasized the importance of keeping schools open and ensuring the safety of children. He also defended the Haitian migrants living and working in Springfield, stating that they have been granted Temporary Protected Status by the U.S. government. The city government canceled its annual CultureFest celebration due to security concerns. DeWine urged for unity in the community and emphasized that the threats are intended to disrupt normal functions and create discord. Law enforcement officers are being deployed to help respond to the threats, and additional security measures have been implemented. DeWine affirmed that there is no evidence that anyone is eating pets in Springfield and called for an end to the false claims being spread online.
