Harris agrees to participate in second potential debate scheduled for October

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign has accepted an invitation to participate in a second debate with former President Donald Trump on October 23, hosted by CNN. Harris’ campaign chair Jennifer O’Malley Dillon stated that the American people deserve another opportunity to see the two candidates debate before casting their ballots, citing Trump’s previous participation in a CNN debate in June. Trump’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung indicated that there will be no third debate, as Trump believes it is unnecessary. The potential debate would come less than two weeks before Election Day and weeks into early voting in multiple states. This announcement follows Harris mentioning at an event in Georgia that she was trying to secure another debate. The first debate between Trump and Harris took place on September 10, hosted by ABC. If the October 23 debate does take place, it will be another chance for voters to see the two candidates go head-to-head in a formal setting before the election.
