Florida is expecting to be hit hard by Tropical Storm Helene, which is forecasted to arrive as a hurricane late tomorrow. Several warnings and watches have been issued, including a hurricane warning for the west coast from Mexico Beach to the Anclote River and a hurricane watch for a stretch of coastline down to Englewood. A storm surge warning has also been issued for almost the entire west coast, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor, with surge heights expected to reach between 10 and 15 feet. Additionally, a tropical storm warning is in place for much of the east coast and the Florida Keys.
Meanwhile, in Cancun, Mexico, beachgoers were urged to evacuate as Helene heads towards the Caribbean coast. NBC News meteorologist Angie Lassman has forecasted that Helene could potentially become a Category 3 hurricane as it approaches Florida. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions to protect themselves and their property as the storm approaches.
