Western Oregon University’s football team will be hosting the Colorado School of Mines in their home opener this Saturday at McArthur Field. The Wolves are coming off a tough loss in their season opener to Chadron State, but they are determined to bounce back in front of their home crowd.
The game against the Buffs will be a tough matchup for the Wolves, as Colorado School of Mines is currently ranked 15th in the country in Division II football. However, WOU head coach Arne Ferguson is confident that his team is up for the challenge.
“We know we have a tough opponent coming in, but we are excited to play in front of our home fans and showcase the talent that we have on this team,” said Ferguson.
The Wolves will be leaning on their defense to make a statement against the Buffs, as they look to shut down Mines’ high-powered offense. Linebacker Jake LaCoste is expected to lead the charge, after putting up an impressive performance in the season opener with 12 tackles.
Offensively, WOU will be looking to quarterback Tanner Trosin to lead the way and find success against a tough Mines defense. Trosin threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener and will need to continue to perform at a high level in order for the Wolves to secure a victory.
Kickoff for the game is set for 1:00 PM on Saturday, and fans are encouraged to come out and support the Wolves in their home opener. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online through the WOU Athletics website.
