The Chicago White Sox suffered a 4-1 defeat to the Detroit Tigers, marking their 121st loss of the season, a new MLB record. Despite winning 93 games in 2021, the team has been on a downward trend, winning just 81 games in 2022 and 61 last season. Their offense has been a major issue, ranking poorly in several statistical categories and struggling to generate runs. First baseman Andrew Vaughn leads the team with a .248 batting average, which is the highest on the team but still relatively low in the league. The White Sox got off to a rough start with a 3-22 record in their first 25 games, the worst in franchise history. They also set a franchise record with a 21-game losing streak, ending on August 5. Despite winning nine games in both May and June, the team had a combined seven wins in July and August. With just two games left in the season, the White Sox have won only 39 games so far.
