Wolves Fall Short in Thrilling Contest Against Warriors

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — In a tightly contested match marked by 21 lead changes, the Western Oregon men’s basketball team suffered a narrow 94-88 defeat to the Warriors during the Ron Logsdon Classic on Friday.

The Wolves, now 1-5 for the season, briefly held a slim 56-55 lead following a jumper from Jason Gallant with 14:36 left in the game. However, this proved to be their last advantage, as the Warriors quickly regained control, extending their lead to 10 points and ultimately holding on for the victory.

Carson Frincke was the standout performer for the Wolves, finishing the game with an impressive 20 points, shooting an efficient 6-for-7 from beyond the arc. He was supported by a strong team effort that saw five players reach double digits in scoring. Anjay Cortez contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, while Gallant nearly recorded a triple-double with 15 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Mario Williams Junior and Zach Moore added 12 points and 11 points respectively, with Moore also pulling down seven rebounds.

Despite playing hard, the Wolves were unable to convert leads into a win and will be looking to bounce back in their next game. WOU will face the host Sonoma State University on Saturday, November 16, at 7 p.m., as they aim to improve their season record and build momentum moving forward.

Fans are encouraged to support the team as they strive to turn around their early-season fortunes against the hosts in what promises to be another competitive matchup.
