Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades
The National Weather Service has officially issued a winter weather advisory for the Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades, set to take effect at 11 p.m. on Monday and lasting until 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The advisory warns of total snow accumulations reaching up to five inches, accompanied by winds gusting up to 40 mph in exposed areas.
Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate significantly, with the potential for very difficult to impossible travel, particularly impacting commutes on Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The hazardous weather may lead to extensive damage to trees and power lines, while slick roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, pose serious risks for motorists. Visibility could be severely reduced due to blowing snow, raising concerns for safe navigation on the roads.
The weather service advises against unnecessary travel during this period.
