Ohio State remains in second place behind Oregon

Undefeated Oregon was once again ranked at the top by the committee, securing a spot in the conference title game regardless of future outcomes. Ohio State remained at No. 2, with Texas following closely behind in third. Miami was ranked eighth but earned the third seed and a bye in the playoff bracket, while Boise State, despite being ranked 12th, secured the fourth and final bye. BYU, ranked 14th, also made it into the 12-team bracket as the fifth-best conference leader, knocking out Tennessee.

With three more weeks of rankings to come, the college football playoff bracket will be finalized on December 8. Boise State’s rise to a bye was partly due to BYU’s recent loss, which dropped them in the rankings. The strength of schedule has been a point of contention, with the Big 12 teams arguing for stronger consideration than Mountain West teams like Boise State.

The SEC, known for its tough competition, saw Georgia climb back into the rankings at No. 10 after being left out last week. Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee also made the top 10 despite having two losses each, showcasing the conference’s strength. Other notable rankings include Penn State at No. 4, Indiana at No. 5, and Notre Dame at No. 6.

The excitement builds as the playoffs draw near, with fans eagerly awaiting to see which teams will make the final cut and compete for the championship.
