Oregon Pinot Noir Ranks Among World’s Best in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 List
DUNDEE, Oregon — The Drouhin Oregon Roserock Pinot Noir Eola-Amity Hills 2022 has earned a prestigious spot in Wine Spectator magazine’s annual "Top 100" list, ranking sixth overall and recognized as one of the "Top 10 Most Exciting Wines" in the world.
On Wednesday, customers Zach Pointer and Erin Allison visited Domaine Drouhin in Dundee to celebrate Pointer’s 28th birthday, only to be surprised with a tasting of the award-winning Roserock Pinot Noir, which received an impressive score of 94 out of 100 from Wine Spectator.
“It’s very good,” remarked Pointer, a former cellar employee at the winery. Although he didn’t work on the 2022 vintage, Pointer expressed joy in observing the wine’s development from grape to bottle, describing the experience as “fulfilling.”
David Millman, president and CEO of Domaine Drouhin, acknowledged the significance of this recognition, marking the first time the winery has made it into the top 10 of the esteemed list. Millman noted the rigorous selection process for the list, stating that achieving a top 10 status is exceptional.
Due to the wine’s popularity, availability has become limited, with nearly 16,000 cases significantly reduced. "It’s been non-stop phone calls this week," Millman shared, emphasizing the excitement surrounding the release. As the winery introduces its 2023 vintage, it aims to meet customer demand.
Millman also highlighted the growing success of Oregon’s wine industry, with six wineries making it onto the "Top 100" list, despite the state contributing only 1% to U.S. wine production. He believes this recognition is just the beginning for the region, which continues to captivate wine enthusiasts with its distinct terroir and compelling stories.
