Umpqua Community College Sees Record Enrollment Growth in Fall 2024
November 21, 2024 – Umpqua Community College (UCC) has reported a remarkable increase in full-time enrollment for fall 2024, surpassing last year’s figures by over 25%. This surge sets UCC apart as the community college with the highest percentage growth in Oregon, exceeding pre-pandemic enrollment levels recorded in fall 2019.
According to a recent release, UCC’s enrollment has risen to 3,990 students, significantly up from 3,186 in fall 2023. This number also exceeds the 3,923 students enrolled during the same period in 2019, demonstrating a positive trend for the institution. UCC Director of Communications and Marketing, Suzie Pritchard, noted that the increase spanned various disciplines, including business, medical careers, sciences, and automotive programs. Additionally, there has been a notable rise in local residents enrolling in enrichment classes and workforce training programs.
UCC President Dr. Rachel Pokrandt expressed excitement about the community’s increasing trust in the college to provide quality education that prepares students for high-skill, high-wage jobs within Douglas County. Dr. Pokrandt emphasized the college’s commitment to innovating and enhancing services for all community members.
The growth in enrollment can be attributed to UCC’s strategic initiatives, including the launch of new degrees and certificates in advanced manufacturing, water quality, business, social work, and allied health fields over the past year. These offerings reflect the college’s responsive approach to local workforce needs.
