Dillon Gabriel Selected as Finalist for Multiple Awards

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel has been named a finalist for two prestigious college football awards, the Maxwell Football Award and the Davey O’Brien Award. The Maxwell Award recognizes the national player of the year, while the Davey O’Brien Award honors the top quarterback in the nation. Gabriel joins other standout players on the finalist lists, including Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter for the Maxwell Award, and Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders for the Davey O’Brien Award.

Gabriel, who has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, will lead Oregon in their regular season finale against Washington this weekend. The Maxwell Award, established in 1937, recognizes excellence on the field and contributions to the game and is named after sportswriter Robert “Tiny” Maxwell. The Davey O’Brien Award, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award, honors candidates who reflect the character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership exemplified by Davey O’Brien.

Both awards have been given to some of the biggest names in college football, many of whom have gone on to successful NFL careers. Gabriel’s recognition as a finalist for these awards highlights his outstanding performance this season and his potential for a successful future in football. The announcement of Gabriel as a finalist for these awards comes as no surprise, as he has been a standout player for Oregon throughout the regular season.
