Final Oregon ballot measure race announced

Oregon’s 2024 election featured five statewide measures, with Measures 115 and 119 projected to pass, while Measures 117 and 118 are on track to fail. Measure 115 would give the State House the power to impeach statewide officials, Measure 119 would establish labor rights for cannabis workers, Measure 116 to set salaries for elected officials and was projected to fail, Measure 117 would implement ranked-choice voting but was also projected to fail, and Measure 118 would impose a corporate tax with revenue going back to taxpayers, but was also projected to fail due to bipartisan opposition.

Measure 115 is significant as it would allow the impeachment of top state officials, which is currently not possible in Oregon. The measure has projected to pass. Measure 119 aims to protect the labor rights of cannabis workers by requiring companies to remain neutral during labor organization contacts. Measure 116, which would establish a commission for setting elected officials’ salaries, is on track to fail. Measure 117, aiming to implement ranked-choice voting, and Measure 118, proposing a corporate tax, are projected to fail due to opposition from both political parties in the state legislature, citing concerns about potential job losses and higher consumer prices.

The final results for these measures are not yet confirmed as ballots continue to be counted, and official results may differ from initial projections.
