Pacific’s Anaya James Leads Tigers to Historic Overtime Win Against Oregon State

STOCKTON, Calif. – In a thrilling matchup, the Pacific women’s basketball team secured a 66-63 overtime victory against Oregon State Thursday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Center, marking the program’s first-ever win over the Beavers.

Senior Anaya James played a pivotal role in the win, hitting a game-tying three-pointer with just five seconds remaining in regulation, part of a remarkable 19-12 run that shifted momentum towards the Tigers after trailing 45-38. James finished the game with a team-leading 22 points, including a career-high six three-pointers and has averaged 26.5 points per game against Oregon State throughout her career.

Graduate Liz Smith was instrumental in Pacific’s success, contributing an impressive 11 points and ten assists to achieve her first career double-double. This performance underscores her ability to facilitate scoring opportunities, as she has significantly improved her assist totals this season.

Pacific’s defense was equally formidable, forcing Oregon State into 29 turnovers, a season-best against a Division I opponent. Freshman Lauren Glazier matched Smith’s defensive efforts with four steals, also achieving a personal record in the category.

The Tigers, now looking ahead, will next host the California Golden Bears on Saturday, December 7, at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, and fans can purchase tickets via PacificTigers.com or by calling the Box Office.
