Oregon State’s women’s basketball team had a dominant 80-45 victory over St. Mary’s, showcasing a strong performance on both ends of the court. The Beavers held the Gaels to 35 percent shooting while shooting 51 percent themselves. They outscored St. Mary’s 42-18 in the paint and had a season-high 20 assists with only five turnovers.

Freshman Elisa Mehyar made her first collegiate basket, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Sela Heide and Kelsey Rees were key contributors in the paint, with Heide going a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and Rees scoring 19 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Kennedie Shuler also had an outstanding game with 14 points, eight assists, and six steals.

Catarina Ferreira recorded her second straight double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, adding three steals to her stat line. The Beavers had four players scoring in double figures for the second consecutive game, improving their record to 4-0 in such games this season.

Head coach Scott Rueck praised his team’s performance, calling it “Beaver basketball” and expressing his satisfaction with their display on both ends of the court. Oregon State will look to carry this momentum on the road as they face Loyola Marymount and San Diego in their upcoming games. The team’s mission, as outlined by Oregon State Athletics, is to build excellent, authentic, visionary student-athletes.
