Western Oregon Softball Struggles at Concordia Kickoff
IRVINE, Calif. — The Western Oregon University softball team faced a challenging day at the Concordia Kickoff tournament, suffering defeats against No. 23 Cal State San Marcos and Chico State on Saturday.
In their opening game, the Wolves (0-4) fell to the undefeated Cougars (4-0) with a score of 11-2. Western Oregon managed to secure six hits with standout performances from Victoria Zimmerman and Aaliyah Gaboriault, each contributing two hits to the effort. Jenna Bixler added the team’s only run batted in (RBI), going 1-for-3 at the plate. In the circle, Alyssa Fullmer took the loss, pitching two innings and surrendering five runs on seven hits, complemented by a strikeout and a walk.
The statistics for the later game against Chico State were not available by the tournament’s reporting deadline. However, the Wolves concluded their day with hopes for improvement in their upcoming match.
