Bomb Attack Kills Pro-Russia Ukrainian Paramilitary Leader in Moscow

A bomb explosion in the lobby of a luxury apartment block in Moscow targeted pro-Russian paramilitary leader Armen Sarkisyan, killing at least one person and injuring four others. Sarkisyan was critically injured in the blast and later died in the hospital. The bombing was described as an assassination attempt orchestrated with careful planning. Sarkisyan was accused by Ukraine of aiding Russia’s war efforts in the Donetsk region. The explosion caused severe damage to the lobby of the building. Sarkisyan was considered a “crime boss” by Ukraine’s SBU security service and was suspected of leading a pro-Russian military formation in Donetsk. In response to the incident, Ukraine did not immediately comment. This attack comes after Ukraine claimed responsibility for the killing of a Russian general in a bomb blast in Moscow in December. The investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for ordering the assassination attempt on Sarkisyan. The explosive attack highlights the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine in the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
