Cold Weather Warning Issued for Southern Oregon Mountain Regions – KQEN News Radio

Cold Weather Advisory Activated for Southern Oregon Amid Frigid Temperatures

February 8, 2025 – Southern Oregon – The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory effective from 7:00 p.m. Sunday through 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, warning residents of dangerously low temperatures expected in mountain regions of southern Oregon. The frigid conditions are forecasted to plunge as low as 5 degrees below zero, particularly affecting areas in the south central and southern Oregon Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains, Klamath Basin, and western Lake counties.

Forecasters caution that the combination of very cold temperatures and persistent snow cover could reduce daytime warming, while clear skies at night may result in even more significant cooling in localized areas. Such extreme cold can lead to hypothermia if individuals are exposed for prolonged periods.

Residents are urged to take precautions during this severe weather event. Anyone traveling outside should dress appropriately in layers, including hats and gloves, to protect against the harsh conditions. Moreover, pet owners are advised to keep animals indoors whenever possible to shield them from the cold.

As southern Oregon braces for this expected cold snap, community members are encouraged to stay updated with the latest weather advisories and to look out for vulnerable neighbors. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates as necessary.
