A 25-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl on a New York City subway, with fellow passengers quickly coming to her aid. The mother fell to the ground on the northbound W train at the 34th Street-Herald Square station, prompting a call to the police. One passenger cut the umbilical cord with a pocket knife, while others helped deliver the baby. Both mother and baby were taken to Bellevue Hospital in good health. NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow praised the passengers and transit workers for their assistance, describing it as an example of New Yorkers coming together to help each other. He expressed relief that both mother and baby were doing well and looks forward to welcoming them back for smooth rides in the future.
