Oregon state government has seen some significant changes and promotions recently. Matt West has been appointed as the new administrator of the Workers’ Compensation Division after serving as interim administrator since January 2024. Tom McLay and Jamie Miller have been promoted to regional positions with the Department of Corrections, while the Department of Land Conservation and Development has promoted Rachel Six and Ryan Marquardt to associate housing accountability planner.
In federal offices, new Congresswoman Janelle Bynum has hired Koray Rosati as communications director, and Dan Whelan has moved to Sustainable Northwest as director of government affairs. Additionally, Ben Botkin is leaving the Oregon Capital Chronicle to become a politics and policy correspondent for Lookout Eugene-Springfield.
Meanwhile, changes are also happening at The Oregonian, where executive editor Therese Bottomly is retiring after 42 years at the newspaper. These changes represent a significant shift in leadership roles within the state government and federal offices.
