Gonzaga Bulldogs Triumph in Overtime Against Oregon State
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs secured a thrilling 66-62 victory against Oregon State in their second consecutive overtime game, thanks to an outstanding performance by Yvonne Ejim, who tallied 31 points and nine rebounds. Allie Turner added 13 points as Gonzaga overcame a competitive match that featured 11 lead changes and 12 ties.
The first half showcased a tightly contested game, with the score locked at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Beavers managed to slightly pull ahead 25-22 by halftime. Despite struggles shooting—Gonzaga at 36% and Oregon State at 38.1%—the Beavers held a rebounding advantage of 19-11.
Gonzaga came alive in the third quarter, outscoring OSU 22-19, including seven points from Turner. By the end of the third, both teams were deadlocked at 44-44. The final quarter saw the Zags display commendable defense, holding Oregon State scoreless for nearly four minutes. A foul with nine seconds left allowed Ejim to tie the game, sending it into overtime after Gonzaga’s defense thwarted OSU’s final play.
In the overtime period, Gonzaga took control, with contributions from multiple players ensuring they never trailed. The Bulldogs shot 41.4% overall and capitalized on 16 turnovers by Oregon State, scoring 16 points off those mistakes. They also dominated in the paint and bench scoring.
Highlights from the game included Ejim extending her double-digit scoring streak to 68 games and marking her second outing of 30 or more points this season. The victory extends Gonzaga’s winning streak to 12 games.
