Press Release: Central Lincoln PUD Reports Power Restoration and Oregon Tackles Housing Crisis

Central Lincoln Public Utility District (PUD) announced that power restorations continue across the region after multiple outages were reported yesterday. As of this morning, the Florence area has been fully restored. While four active outages remain—one in Mapleton and three in Seal Rock and Newport—crews worked diligently late into the night to restore power, rapidly addressing an additional outage that occurred around 6 PM yesterday on Rhododendron Drive. That issue was resolved by 8:30 PM. Weather forecasts suggest winds will diminish by the afternoon, potentially aiding restoration efforts.

In parallel, efforts to combat Oregon’s affordable housing crisis are gaining momentum, as various groups support a new bill aimed at funding the state’s Homeownership Development Incubator Program (H-DIP). Launched in 2022, H-DIP provides financial support to developers focused on creating housing for low- to moderate-income families. Katie Curry from McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity emphasized the program’s impact, stating, “It’s been a game changer” for accelerating home construction in the community. The state is currently reviewing a request for $50 million to continue funding H-DIP, which is designed to assist both nonprofit and for-profit developers, as well as private parties and Tribes.

Meanwhile, West Coast gas prices are stabilizing following recent refinery outages. In Oregon, the average price is currently $3.77, slightly lower in Florence where prices range from $3.35 to $3.49 per gallon. However, AAA warns that the transition to summer-blend fuel may lead to rising prices in the near future.
