Oregon State Triumphs Over Baylor in Close Contest
ARLINGTON, Texas – The No. 9 ranked Oregon State baseball team secured a thrilling 4-3 victory against Baylor at Globe Life Field on Friday night. The star of the game was Jacob Krieg, who showcased his power at the plate with his fourth home run of the season and drove in two crucial runs.
Krieg’s performance included a definitive two-run homer in the fourth inning, breaking a 2-2 tie, followed by a key single in the sixth that brought Tyce Peterson home, who had doubled earlier.
Another highlight came from Easton Talt, who made a spectacular catch to rob Baylor’s Pearson Riebock of a home run, sprinting nearly 90 feet to pull it back from the bullpen. This play proved vital as Baylor later scored an unearned run, reducing Oregon State’s lead to just one.
Eric Segura, who was the second of three Oregon State pitchers, earned his third win of the season by restricting Baylor to a single hit and one unearned run over three innings. Matthew Morrell sealed the game, securing his first save of the year by retiring all six batters he faced.
The scoring kicked off early with Gavin Turley’s single in the first inning, but Baylor tied it with a two-run home run off Oregon State starter Nelson Keljo, who ended with a line of three hits and two runs in four innings. Baylor’s Ethan Calder took the loss, surrendering four hits and four runs in 5 1/3 innings.
