The Western Oregon women’s basketball team ended their season on a high note with a 77-76 victory over Alaska on Senior Day at the New PE Building. The Wolves, with a final record of 9-17 overall and 5-13 in the GNAC, staged a comeback in the fourth quarter to secure the win against the Nanooks, who finished 6-20 overall and 1-17 in the conference.
The game was a close battle throughout, with Western Oregon taking the lead in the fourth quarter thanks to key baskets from Natalie Brown and Bella Pedrojetti. Brown recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Enid Vaifanua contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Pedrojetti, the team’s lone senior, made a significant impact in her final game with 12 points. Ciona Wells and Salma Youngblood also scored in double figures for the Wolves.
The game came down to crucial free throws in the final moments, with Brown and Vaifanua sinking key shots to give Western Oregon a narrow lead. Pedrojetti sealed the victory with two free throws of her own, ensuring a four-point advantage before Alaska hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.
