Search Intensifies for Missing 2-Year-Old in Siletz, Oregon
SILETZ, Ore. (KATU) – A major search effort is underway for a missing 2-year-old boy, Dane Paulsen, last seen playing in his yard near milepost 21 on the Siletz River Highway on March 1 at approximately 4:25 p.m. Dane was wearing a grey fuzzy hoody with ears, black pants, and blue and white shoes. He has brown hair and green eyes.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has identified a late ’90s gold-colored station wagon as a vehicle of interest that may have been seen in the area prior to Dane’s disappearance. Sheriff Adam Shanks indicated that there is currently no evidence linking this vehicle directly to the incident, which is why an Amber Alert has not been issued.
As the search continues into March 2, around 100-150 community volunteers are assisting law enforcement by combing a wide area surrounding the property. Various Search and Rescue teams from Lincoln, Benton, and Lane Counties are deployed, utilizing resources such as aerial drones, tracking dogs, and watercraft.
Authorities have instructed community volunteers to avoid the primary search zone, specifically from the steel bridge to Huhtala Road, and to stage at Elks Campground for coordination. The search involves ground teams and marine deputies from Clackamas County assisting along the Siletz River.
In addition to local authorities, the FBI is also collaborating in the investigation. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about Dane’s disappearance or the vehicle to contact their Tip Line at 541-265-0669.
