Oregon State Secures Comeback Win Against Ohio State with Late-Inning Heroics
Arlington, Texas – No. 9 Oregon State staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Ohio State 12-10 at Globe Life Field on Sunday, fueled by a pivotal three-run home run from Gavin Turley in the eighth inning. The Beavers, now 7-3 on the season, faced a 9-7 deficit heading into the final stretch but showcased resilience to reclaim the lead.
The comeback began as Wilson Weber delivered a pinch-hit double, paving the way for Trent Caraway, who connected for a single over third base to score Weber. Aiva Arquette followed suit with a single to center field, bringing home Caraway and leveling the score. With momentum in their favor, Turley stepped up to the plate, blasting a 1-1 pitch from Luke Carrell to seal a three-run advantage for Oregon State.
Turley’s impressive performance included five RBIs from two hits, having previously driven in runs during a four-run first inning alongside contributions from Tyce Peterson and Canon Reeder. Arquette also made waves at the plate, setting a personal best with four hits, while Reeder equaled his career-high with three hits as the Beavers compiled a total of 13 hits.
The game saw a shift in momentum as Ohio State, who fell to 1-8, fought back after Oregon State jumped to an early 7-2 lead, scoring six runs in the sixth inning to briefly take control. However, Joey Mundt earned the win with a solid relief outing, and Matthew Morrell notched his second save despite allowing an unearned run in the ninth.
Looking ahead, Oregon State will gear up for their 2025 home opener against San Diego on Friday at Goss Stadium, with first pitch set for 5:35 PM PT. Tickets are available at BeaverTickets.com.
