Shooting Incident at Tigard Tesla Dealership Under Investigation
Tigard, Ore. – March 7, 2023 – A Tesla dealership in Tigard, approximately 10 miles southwest of Portland, was the scene of a shooting early Thursday morning that left the property damaged but fortunately resulted in no injuries. According to Tigard Police, at least seven shots were fired at the dealership located on SW Cascade Avenue around 2 a.m., causing damage to multiple vehicles, shattering several windows, and piercing a computer monitor.
This incident comes amidst a troubling trend of vandalism reportedly linked to political motivations surrounding Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, who heads the controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Under Musk’s leadership, DOGE has faced criticism for drastic workforce cuts and alleged terminations of federal contracts, prompting protests from those opposed to his unelected position.
The recent shooting at the Tigard dealership follows other high-profile attacks on Tesla locations. Earlier this year, Adam Matthew Lansky, 41, was arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem, Oregon, and allegedly shooting at the same location in February. Additionally, a fire at a Tesla charging station in Massachusetts and the repeated vandalism of a Loveland, Colorado dealership by Lucy Grace Nelson, 40, highlight a disturbing pattern of targeted attacks.
Tigard Police have confirmed there is currently no known motive for the shooting but acknowledged that other Tesla dealerships across the country have also been targeted for political reasons. The investigation is ongoing, with local police collaborating with federal agencies, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, to determine the circumstances surrounding this attack.
